How is WTA ranking calculated? ›

The WTA rankings are based on a 52-week, cumulative system. A player's ranking is determined by her results at a maximum of 16 tournaments for singles and 11 for doubles. During the 2020 and 2021 seasons, a revised ranking system was introduced.

ATP/WTA Rankings lists (in singles and doubles) are generally released each Monday, except rankings are not produced in the middle week of the four Grand Slams or the ATP and WTA events in Miami and Indian Wells.

A tennis rating of 4.5 indicates the person is starting to understand and execute the power and spin shots while maintaining pace of the game.
