DR. SAYANTAN SENGUPTA

International Best Researcher Award in Fluid dynamics and Heat transfer

Sayantan Sengupta is a faculty in NIT Durgapur, India. He holds the post of Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He completed B. Tech. (Mechanical) from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College in 2009. After that, he joined as an M. Tech. Student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of IIT Kharagpur. He completed his M. Tech. in 2011 and was awarded a PhD in 2017 from the same Institute. His expertise includes analytical fluid Mechanics and heat transfer, CFD, condensation, solar energy, Tesla turbine, rotational flow and optimization techniques. He is the author of about 19 technical papers published in reputed international journals and three more papers in prestigious international conferences. In 2016, Senguptas publication entitled The physics of pressure variation in microchannels within corotating or static discs in the journal Physics of Fluids was highlighted as “Editor’s Picks”. In one of his recent works on Characteristics of complex interaction between two oppositely-moving laminar buoyant plumes within slender vertical channels (published in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer), he explored the interesting physics of secondary flow and oscillatory entrainment within the channel. He discovered two flow regimes: a highly rotational core region and a unidirectional near-wall region. He coined a new parameter called symmetry ratio, which determines channel pumping and thermal performance and controls the transition from anti-asymmetry to anti-symmetry. Senguptas detailed research on Tesla disc turbines gained popularity throughout the globe. He and his team are currently hunting for novel solutions for mitigating the global energy crisis. Sengupta has worked as a reviewer in various international journals of repute, viz. Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physics of Fluids, European Journal of Mechanics-B/Fluids, Fluid Dynamics Research, Energy-Conversion and Management, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, and Journal of Molecular Liquids.

SHRINJANA DHAR

INTERNATIONAL BEST RESEARCHER AWARD

I have done my Graduation and Post-graduation in Environmental Science from the University of Calcutta, West Bengal, India. At present, I am pursuing a PhD under Dr. Pritha Bhattacharjee’s supervision from the Department of Environmental Science, University of Calcutta. From the very beginning of my research journey, I got the opportunity to publish a number of research articles and book chapters in esteemed journals. Perhaps my research topic is the potency of dietary phytochemicals in amelioration of the female reproductive disorder (emphasizing Polycystic Ovarian Syndromes), but having eclectic tastes in molecular crosstalk of a disease, I tried to explore the mechanistic insights of the role of curcumin (an essential ingredient of Indian kitchens) in the COVID-19 management. With the exception of academics, I have immense love for the Indian Classical Dance, practicing and performing globally. Also, I love connecting myself spiritually as well as physically with nature for self-growth and happiness.

Priyankari Bhattacharya

“INTERNATIONAL BEST RESEARCHER AWARD” Indigenously developed CuO/TiO2 coated ceramic ultrafiltration membrane for removal of emerging contaminants like phthalates and parabens: Toxicity evaluation in PA-1 cell line”

I have completed my PhD in Environmental Science from University of Calcutta. I have 2 years of post doctoral experience and currently working as Women’s Scientist funded by DST at Jadavpur University. I have more than 14 years of working experience in field of environment of which 11 years in field of research. My area of research was combination process involving biosorption integrated with ceramic membrane based filtration is proposed for treatment of higher loading wastewater. The biosorbents were derived from waste biomass. For membrane filtration, clay-alumina based ceramic microfiltration/ ultrafiltration membrane indigenously developed at CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute was used. The combination mode of treatment was employed for various types of industrial effluent, viz. domestic wastewater, wastewater from tannery, textile, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. In addition, recycling potential of the treated wastewater was explored in industrial/ agricultural reuse. The efficiency of the treatment process was evaluated by analyzing the environmental impacts of the untreated and treated effluent considering different plant and animal models as biomarkers. Apart from these work, my research also involves in use of microalgae for wastewater remediation for biodiesel production, biodegradation of PPCPs components, green synthesis of metal nanoparticles and observing effects on different cell lines. I have around 28 research publications in reputed Journals of high impact factor. Presently involved in pilot scale remediation of PPCP’s compounds using membrane coated with green synthesized metal oxide nanoparticles.
